Pack Walks

Each walker generally has two pack walks per day; one in the morning and one in the afternoon with puppy/senior visits in between the hours of 11am-1pm.  With pick-up and drop-off dogs are generally gone 3 hours per pack walk with a minimum 1 hour spent walking.  Dogs MUST be spayed/neutered over the age of 6 months.

Private One Hour Walks

Private one-hour walks are ONLY available for dogs with severe behavioral problems requiring intensive rehabilitation.  The availability of the service is extremely limited so please contact us for advising or to discuss options as integrating your dog into a pack of balanced dogs is our ultimate goal.

Puppy/Senior Visits

Thirty minute bathroom breaks and leg stretches for our youngest and oldest pack members unable to join the pack.  We generally start puppies in pack walks at 12 weeks of age and revert back to puppy visits for a week when the dog is spayed/neutered until able to re-join the pack.

Daycare

For regular walking clients that require more attention or exercise, dogs can join us for both the morning and afternoon pack walks.  Dogs are generally picked up before the first pack walk (9am) and dropped off after the second (4pm).  This is a mobile service; dogs are not kenneled/kept in an indoor facility.

Advising
Are you looking for your ideal vet?  Researching alternative treatments for your aging senior companion?  Having trouble mediating the disagreement about which breed best suits the entire family?  Wondering if treat training is for you?  Having trouble connecting with your dog and achieving balanced behavior?  Ask us, where dogs and their people are concerned, we're always here to help!

What's a Pack Walk?

Regularly walking over 70 dogs a day between our 4 full-time walkers, Calgary Dog Walkers-BowDog was Calgary's first dog walking company to offer "pack walks" or structured exercise in a group setting for dogs.  We believe that walks created specifically for the needs of your dog’s energy level ensure that your dog gets the most out of their time spent with us.  Focused on providing the most constructive experience possible for your dog, we visit new parks and practice both new and old rules, boundaries and exercises with your pet.  By requiring  a minimum booking of twice a week from all of our clients, every time your pet jumps into our vehicle, he'll know which buddies are waiting for him!  How could he not be excited to see us!?

Our walkers are bonded, insured and trained to ensure that your dog’s experience and safety is never compromised! Contact us today for a free in-home consultation!

Why Dog Walking?
Dog walking is a great way to provide all dogs with what they need: outdoor exercise and socialization with balanced dogs. Many dog owners contemplate sending their dog to doggy day care in place of or in conjunction with dog walking. While doggy day care is a great idea in theory (our Dog Daycare service is fully integrated with our philosophy of exercise), the fact of the matter is that a majority of the dogs in doggy daycares have not been exercised prior to being dropped off for the day. The result is often a very high energy level that is maintained within the pack for the entire day, with no way to burn the energy in a positive way (thus the high frequency of fights and development of behavioral issues in doggy daycares compared to that of dog walking). Running around a small room in circles for 8 hours (in the same room every day) does not release energy but builds it along with anxiety and stress often lead ingto the development of other behavior problems related to lack of exercise. This can be detrimental for dogs with an already high energy level or unbalanced behavior problems.

While dogs that are serviced by a regular dog walker are often out of the home for a shorter period of time compared to their furry-friends that go to daycare, owners must keep in mind QUALITY vs. QUANTITY. A majority of dogs cared for by Calgary Dog Walkers Inc. are out of the home 2-3 hours a day walking a minimum of 1 hour per day.  Returning home, our furry-clients are relaxed and tired-ready for a good few hours of snooze time in the kennel (keep in mind that dogs SHOULD sleep between 8-12 hours per day, ESPECIALLY puppies under the age of 1 year) before their owners return home from work!  In most cases, this allows you to enjoy the time spent with your dog in the evening while they're relaxed and ready for a bonding walk with you and the family!
